  2. 识别并"打包"简单修饰语:在扫描句子时,将单个形容词/名词与其修饰的名词看作一个整体(如 a tall man → a tall man);将单个副词与其修饰的动词或形容词看作一个整体(如 ran quickly → ran quickly);将表征核心特征的简短介词短语与其修饰的对象看作一个整体(如 the book on the table → the book on the table)。

After days of torrential rain triggered severe urban flooding, hundreds of volunteers, driven by a sense of civic duty, immediately mobilized to distribute essential supplies to the besieged city.

After days of torrential rain triggered severe urban flooding, ——这是一个时间副词性从句,为核心主干提供了时间背景和原因。

模块二:, driven by a sense of civic duty, ——这是一个过去分词短语,是"复杂模块",需要还原。 逻辑还原:, who were driven by a sense of civic duty, (一个NRC)。

模块三:to distribute essential supplies to the besieged city.
